This is an on-going documentation of where
graphic design has various tones of voice.
This is a poster for a campaign for an event to raise awareness for global warming. The tone of voice in this work is forceful, yet it is also subtly suggestive. The forceful tone is from the language used, 'you are not fucked'. The language is very direct and personal with its use of 'you', however this can also be used as a broad term. The use of 'fucked' is also quite forceful and at the same time makes the poster less formal by using an expletive. There is also a suggestive tone, however, much more subtle. There is nothing visual that makes it suggestive, it is the lack of information. This lack of information intrigues the viewer and gets them to take a closer look and, possibly, go to the event as they are still unsure as to what it is advertising.
