PERSONAL BRANDING

My personal branding has not been at the forefront of my work over this year.

Towards the end of last year, I produced a set of duplexed black ink on black stock business cards and although the content had been adapted several times over the past year, the overall concept has stayed the same.

The reason I chose to use black on black is because it is smart, sophisticated, interesting and unusual, qualities I believe hold and provide in both a personal and professional manner, therefore reflecting me.

This concept has also been taken across my CV and portfolio cover, the later is still in development.

As well as these, I have a logotype that I have chosen to use and have put it to use across both social media and email signatures.

Another important change in my personal branding has come digitally.

At the beginning of this year, when I was applying for placements and contacting companies and professionals, I created the website jasperleedesign@gmail.com to use as a more professional contact.

Having purchased a domain name with the intent on creating a website to showcase my work, I have also purchased an email to be associated with the site.

This makes me appear much more as a professional rather than a student or a graduate.

Domain:

jasperlee.co

Email:

contact@jasperlee.co

The website is still in the pipeline and will hopefully be up and running within the next couple of months.

PORTFOLIO

As a designer, I believe, it is important to have a physical portfolio. I have an adaptable digital pdf that I have sent out to prospective clients and employees but up until now have not focused on a printed element.

I have decided unlike the suggested leather portfolio with unattractive plastic sleeves, I will print and bind my portfolio in a way that pages can be added, taken away or moved, depending on the company or job application.

I have decided that the portfolio, like the conventional on will be A3 but will have a variety of different stocks and inserts to show me as the designer I am.

I have taken some inspiration from my design publication as, in essence, that is a enhanced CV. I want my portfolio to be unusual, interesting and memorable for anyone who happens to pick it up.

Up to this point I have only really been playing around with some possible introductory pages, stating who I am as a designer but I am aiming to have this designed, printed and bound for the end of year show.
