Rational and Progress Crit - Research, Collect, Communicate: Product


Publication and Promotion: Why have you made this decision?

The research that I have done into Jaguar cars, which lead onto iconic British automotive design, and my interest in publication design, has lead to this being the most appropriate outcome.

Who is the audience and how do you intend to engage with them?

I want to produce my digital publication and printed in the style of GQ as that is the target audience I want to aim for. The GQ style is very stylish, smart and sophisticated.

What is the function of the product – it is supposed to inform/ educate/ document/ entertain/ instruct? What has informed this decision?

Inform/ educate/ document/ entertain
-                Using statistics and information on vehicles, the company’s heritage and other interesting information.
-                Links to videos/websites

How will that audience interact with the product?

Printed publication – read/visit websites

Digital publication – read/videos/links/touch

Progress Crit Feedback

§  There is a gap in the market for a high end car magazine.
§  There needs to be a large amount of interesting information, possibly written in the style of GQ.
§  Stock and material must be considered, top quality, glossy, and slightly heavier than magazine stock.
§  How will the pages be bound? Staples/wrapped cards
§  Shape and design of the publication – square – layout.
§  Editions – other iconic British design supplements.
