Alphabet Soup: J’Nae Typeface – Progress Crit.

The primary and most important decision that I have made from the crit. was choosing the typeface I am going to make the whole alphabet out from. Out of a possible 11, the crit. discussion helped me decide on what was the best one to use, removing the others as either; they weren’t aesthetically pleasing or they did not reflect J’Nae.

The second important decision to come out of the crit. discussion was the decision to keep the typeface tall and thin with the ‘bubbly’ feel. This decision was made due to how the tall and thin character represented J’Nae better, but also because, unlike most bubble style typefaces, this was not short and wide.

The final decision that was made from the crit. was not to worry about trying to emulate the whole of J’Nae’s personality in the typeface, but instead to focus on 2 or 3 elements that work well together.
