PPP : SESSION NOTES – 07/03/2014


Build a brand for yourself;
-       Design presence

-       Print & digital

-       Identifiable & unique

-       Visual identity – range/simple & effective/practicalities

-       Promo pack – samples/creative CV/business cards/website

-       Considerations – range/colour/own typeface

Apply group work to personal identity.

Answer all of these questions for group project;



-       What is the nature of the business?

-       Where will you work from?

-       What must you consider?

-       Who is your market?

-       Are you a sole trader?

-       Difference between a partnership and a cooperative?

-       A LLC?

-       A Limited Company?

-       Work from home?

-       Screen sharing?

-       From a start up organization?

-       Rent office space?

-       Insurance?

-       Security?

-       Rent a desk space?

-       Receptionist?

-       How much do you charge – hour/project?

-       Worth – financial & other?



Add 10% at least for external quotes



Never work for free



Competitive rates for the area



How much is the client willing to pay?



Intellectual property rights?



Work for charity? Charge? Charge.



What liberties do you incur?



What financial things must be put in place?



Tax?



What records must you keep?



Accountant?



Book keeping service?



As a group you need to be in constant communication

-       Meet on a regular basis



Will receive conflicting information



Must pull you weight

People can be fired



If you are fired you have to do it all yourself



WORK WITH A CLIENT TO WRITE THE BRIEF



Don’t include anything you don’t know

-       Should be a reason for everything



Business & Branding;

-       Refer to Velo/city work

-       Know your business so you can target clients



Be convinced in what you are doing

-       Enjoy it
