Graphic Design: Contexts

This is an on-going documentation of where graphic design is used in different contexts.

Graphic design surrounds us and although noticed and viewed everyday not many people pay enough attention to it. Graphic design can be found in all contexts of life. This first example is of a logo design that is cleverly made up from the initials of the designers name and then put onto business cards.

This work is a promotional information pack for a company that innovatively removes areas of the packaging to reveal what is underneath rather than print it again. This would only be obvious if you were to view the product up closer and does not have a huge impact, however the use of colour and the design mean you are more likely to pick it up as apposed to a plain printed one.

This work covers several contexts as it has a broad variety of components; packaging, business cards and infographics. Although there is a range of components they are all held together through the flow of the design. Everything is recognizable as part of that product, with the slight exception of the business card that could be stand-alone.

Here a logo design for a company has been adjusted and modified to create a pattern that has been used on that side of their bottles and jars in 3 different variations. This means that the company can brand different items slightly differently whilst still keeping a theme throughout that relates to their main logo.
